Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations

August 24, 2016

Health Canada has released new regulations governing Canada’s medical cannabis program. The Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR) permits patients, or their designated caregiver, to grow at home.

Natural Health Services will support our patients who are interested in pursuing this. If you are interested in growing your own cannabis, please follow these steps:

1. You MUST have an active prescription with Natural Health Services prior to your ACMPR appointment.

Please click here to book your appointment.

2. Read and understand the ACMPR

You can access the full regulations here.

3. Download and complete Health Canada’s Application form

You can access the application form and instructions here.

4. Download and complete the NHS ACMPR checklist.

You can download the PDF checklist here.

5. Book your appointment.

Once you have completed the Natural Health Services checklist, please click here to book your appointment. Choose Calgary as your location, and then choose ACMPR as the type of appointment.

Your appointment will be with a Bud Genius at our Education Centre located at 5809 Macleod Trail SW. We will go over your completed application and make sure everything is filled out. Once that is done we will send your application along with a copy of your medical document to Health Canada.

Please note your appointment will not be with a physician. If you do not have an existing and active prescription with Natural Health Services, please book an appointment with a physician first.

The cost for your ACMPR appointment will be $19.99* and will include your appointment with a Bud Genius to review your application, admin costs, and postage.

*Compassion Pricing – if your annual income is less than $30,000 or you are on a government assistance program please let us know at the time of your appointment, and we will cover the fee for you.
