Is this really legal?
Yes, the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR) was created by Health Canada allowing patients to legally access safe, reliable and clean medicine from Licensed Producers.
How do I book an appointment?

Can I receive a prescription for medical cannabis if have been diagnosed with a mental health disorder?
Due to research that indicates cannabis can precipitate psychosis, we will not prescribe to patients who have been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia or Schizoaffective Disorder. If you are under the care of a Psychiatrist or MD who is aware of your interest in obtaining a medical cannabis prescription we require a letter and or referral from that Physician.

Is there a charge to see the doctor?
No, we believe all patients deserve access to our services. You will not be charged for any appointments or education sessions with us.
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
No, you do not need a referral to see our doctors. However, we do accept referrals from doctors.
Can I use a third-party consultant service to get in faster?
No, we are not affiliated with any third-party consultants or services and do not offer priority-access through any other services. We advise patients against paying for any third-party consultant or service, as we are a free service to all patients. We are happy to serve our patients directly through our booking system.
What should I bring and not bring to my appointment?
Please bring a piece of photo ID, your health care card and suppoting medical documentation (if applicable). You are welcome to bring a support family member or friend with you if needed, but please be mindful of limited space. Although we love animals too, please leave your pets at home. Service animals with supporting documentation are welcome.
Do I have to come to follow-up appointments?
Yes, due to requirements set out by the College of Physicians and Surgeons, you are required to attend regular follow-up visits to maintain your prescription. We are obligated to cancel your prescription with your Licensed Producer if you do not attend.
The follow-up is a good time in which you are able to ask questions or discuss any changes or problems you may have noticed with the medication. At this time you are also able to make changes to your choice of Licensed Producer.
Will I get a card?
Many Licensed Producers offer patients a patient ID card, however, it is not required. Your prescription is printed on the product’s container.
Can I get a copy of my prescription?
Patients can now request a copy of their medical document for their records. This request can only be processed in person by a supervisor or manager at one of our Education Centres. A $50 administration fee will apply.
If you are applying to Health Canada to grow at home under the ACMPR, we will mail the required documents directly to Health Canada with your application. To follow this process, please visit: www.naturalhealthservices.ca/ACMPR.
What’s the recommended way to use cannabis?
We recommend using a vaporizer. A vaporizer heats the cannabis to the point where the medical components are released and the patient inhales the vapor.
Medical Cannabis can also be taken orally by creating a product like a butter or coconut oil infused with cannabis. You can use the oils and fats to cook with to create many different food items from cookies to spaghetti, to whatever you want.
Some Licensed Producers also sell their own edible oil products.
How do I choose a Licensed Producer?
One of our Cannabis Education Specialists can talk to you about which Licensed Producer may be right for you. Licensed Producers are regulated by Health Canada and can legally grow and sell medical cannabis to patients in Canada.

I’ve heard you can choose more than one Licensed Producer, is that true?
Yes, you can. At your initial appointment you will choose one and at your follow-up, if required, we will split your prescription so that you can choose a second Licensed Producer.
Please note that we are not able to switch your Licensed Producer in between appointments.
Do the Licensed Producers have compassionate pricing?
Yes, most Licensed Producers offer compassionate pricing. If you are interested in learning more, you can check out the individual LP websites, and make sure to let your Bud Genius know at your appointment.
How long do I have to wait before I can order?
Depending on the Licensed Producer you choose, the verification process may take two weeks. Once your documents are verified and you receive your patient ID, you’ll be able to order.
Please be patient. The patient verification process can take a bit of time. If it has been more than two weeks since your appointment and you haven’t heard, please give us a call at 1-844-262-0942.
Can I travel with my medicine?
Yes! As long as you travel within Canada. You have to keep your medicine in the container it came in from the Licensed Producer. If you are travelling by plane, be sure to keep your cannabis in your carry-on luggage.

Can I legally grow my own cannabis?
Health Canada released the new regulations governing Canada’s medical cannabis program on August 24, 2016. The Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR) permits patients, or their designated caregiver, to grow at home.

What's the status of my Grow At Home application?
Natural Health Services facilitates the application process by reviewing the completed application document for accuracy and adding the most recent medical document. We do not receive updates from Health Canada. To check on the status of your application, please contact Health Canada directly at 1-866-337-7705, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. EST, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Do the Licensed Producers sell edibles, shatter, budder, or rosin?
No, currently Licensed Producers only have Health Canada approval to sell dried cannabis and edible oil extract products.
Can I legally purchase medical cannabis at a dispensary?
No. Health Canada stipulates that Medical Cannabis be sold to patients by a registered Licensed Producer only.
