January 12, 2017 Saskatoon, Sask. – Natural Health Services is a patient-centric medical cannabis clinic with locations in Calgary, Medicine Hat, Edmonton and now Saskatoon. As Western Canada’s largest medical cannabis prescriber, Natural Health Services is at the forefront of the industry. Natural Health Services is made up of physicians, nurses, bud geniuses and customer care representatives.
Medical cannabis is commonly used to relieve pain. Kait Shane, Director of Patient Care says, “Patients who use medical cannabis use it to treat a wide variety of ailments including; insomnia, arthritis, back pain, nausea from cancer chemotherapy, Crohn’s disease, seizures, headaches and more. Our bodies already produce chemicals that help us with pain and inflammation. What medical cannabis does is help those natural chemicals work.”
There are several ways to use medical cannabis; orally by ingesting an edible oil, or creating a product like a butter or coconut oil infused with cannabis. The oils and fats can be used to cook with to create many different foods. Plus, many choose vaporizing as some people find inhaling is more effective than processing through their liver. The evolution of this culinary science has helped everyone benefit from medical cannabis, especially with children and elderly patients.
This past summer, Health Canada announced the new Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR). Under the ACMPR, Canadians who have been authorized by their health care practitioner to access cannabis for medical purposes will continue to have the option of purchasing safe, quality-controlled cannabis from one of the Licensed Producer by Health Canada. The goal at Natural Health Services is to help patients and caregivers understand the different method of administration of medical cannabis. This way they can make educated decisions about the products they purchase and try.
What sets Natural Health Services apart from others is that there is no charge to their patients for appointments or services. Shane says, “By opening a medical cannabis clinic in Saskatoon we’re able to give this community the opportunity to address and help alleviate symptoms of many serious medical conditions that may not respond to traditional interventions.”
